Defensive Driving Instructor Course – May 2020 ***Canceled

Course Description
This course is designed to train and qualify the students to teach the 24-hour driver training requirement in the 700-hour Academy curriculum. The student will also be qualified to teach the 8-hour Continuing Education class that is available to commissioned Missouri Peace Officers. The Instructor School consists of 12 hours of classroom topics including Principles of Learning, Training Liability, Fundamentals of Law Enforcement Driving and Vehicle Dynamics. The final 16 hours will involve becoming proficient in driving, as well as teaching the course exercises. You will need to use your assigned department vehicle during the practical exercise. The student will have participated in a driving class within the last 5 years as a prerequisite to attending this course.
A minimum of 12 students is required to hold the course. We will fill the class on a first-come first-served basis. Register by May 1st, 2020. This training qualifies for twenty-eight (28) hours of Missouri POST Continuing Law Enforcement Education in the area(s) of Technical Studies and Skill Development through the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association Training Academy, a POST-approved continuing education provider.
