Field Training Officer (FTO) Course – June 2020

Course Description

This course offers the basic information needed to train and evaluate a new officer. It is based on the highly regarded San Jose, California Police Department FTO model established in the 1970’s.

This training qualifies for twenty‐eight (28) hours of Missouri POST Continuing Law Enforcement Education Training in the area(s) of Legal Studies (2); Interpersonal Perspectives (1); Technical Studies (24) and Skill Development (1) through the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association Training Academy, a POST approved continuing education provider.

1300‐1700 Daily Observation Report and Standardized Evaluation Guidelines

Day Four

0800‐1000 Training Liability
1000‐1200 Evaluation Scenarios (Video)
1200‐1300 Written Exam / Review / Critique
