August 4 @ 8:00 am - August 11 @ 5:00 pmFree – $500
This course is designed to provide the student the necessary skills and knowledge to develop and present training programs to peace officers in the State of Missouri that meet the requirements of the Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (POST) Rules and Regulations. This program is POST Approved to meet the requirements necessary for licensing as a POST Generalist Instructor.
The program starts on Tuesday (Aug 10th) with 3 days of interactive classroom training on course preparation, public speaking, principles of learning, the role of the instructor, training aids, training liability, test construction, methods of instruction, and adult learning principles. Students will be required to perform short classroom presentations, and select a training topic that will be used to develop and present a 50 minute practical teaching exercise. Students will have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to return home and work on their 50 minute presentation. On Monday (Aug 10th) students will return back to the classroom to work on and finalize their presentation with the aid of their instructor, and each student will present their 50 minute teaching exercise on Tuesday (Aug 11th).
Students will be required to develop a source document and lesson plan for the 50 minute teaching exercise. The topic of the exercise must relate in some way to law enforcement. Students are encouraged to select and research their topic prior to starting the program.
This training qualifies for forty (40) hours of Missouri POST Continuing Law Enforcement Education credit through the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association, a POST Licensed provider of continuing education.
Due to the interactive nature of this program, class size is limited to 14 students.
Students are responsible for all lodging, meals, transportation and presentation expenses.
