According to a Pew Research Center analysis of U.S. Census Bureau data, at 35%, Millennials (born between 1981 and 1996) are currently the largest generation in the U.S. labor force. A substantial challenge for public safety agencies is that the traditional 9-to-5 office job doesn’t adequately support the lives millennials and Gen Zs want to live. The nature of law enforcement and corrections work conflicts with the preference for remote working, freelance roles, group collaboration and the need for constant connection through social media. This 90 minute presentation discusses aspects of the conflict and possible solutions.
