Participants should have an advanced working knowledge of weapons used and must pass an initial qualification course with a score of at least 80% on the first day of training to continue the course. Students must pass a written examination and shoot a qualification score of at least 90% to successfully complete the course. This is not a beginner’s course. Topics include range management; lead and hearing safety; range safety; and analysis and correction of shooter problems. You will learn the skills necessary to be a firearms instructor and instruct for your department. This is also an approved course necessary to be licensed as a firearms specialist through POST. You should already possess an excellent mastery of safe weapons handling skills and be physically capable of performing police combat shooting courses. This course is not designed to teach you how to shoot but is designed to teach you how to instruct others to shoot as a law enforcement professional. DESCRIPTION:POST# 13906 \nThis course is designed to define a medical threat assessment\, to include a medical plan for a tactical operation. \nStudents will learn how to apply techniques to control life threatening bleeding during care under fire in a HOT ZONE. Additionally\, they will perform techniques to treat life threatening and non-life threatening injuries during tactical field care in a WARM ZONE. During the program\, students will demonstrate lifting\, moving\, and extricating victims from a tactical or hostile environment during tactical evacuation care. \nPRE-REQUISITES:\nCurrent CPR and Basic First Aid Training (prior to certification being issues\, must obtain prior or withing 30 days of class completion.) DESCRIPTION:POST# 13929 \nThis 8-hour Instructor Course allows successful graduates to teach end-users to properly deploy OC and to properly care for those exposed to the product. \nIn addition to covering how to deploy pepper spray\, this course stresses under what circumstances pepper spray may be appropriately used as a force option\, decontamination procedures\, and the need to closely monitor individuals for adverse medical effects after exposure. \nTopics Covered\n• Legal aspects of OC deployment\n• OC pepper spray containers & minimum deployment distances\n• Common spray patterns and target areas\n• Steps to reduce the possibility of Hydraulic Needling\n• Acceptable decontamination solutions\n• Documenting use of OC pepper spray \nSuccessful Completion Requirements\nParticipants are required to pass a written exam with a score of 90% or better and demonstrate the ability to properly deploy inert training spray. \nNotice to Students: All students in this course are exposed to OC as a requirement for instructor certification. \n3 YEAR CERTIFICATION: Successful graduates of this course will receive a three-year instructor certification certificate along with a 4-hour end-user lesson plan and visual aids. \nDisclaimer\nThis program involves practical exercises. This course involves exposure to oleoresin capsicum as well as physical exercises. DESCRIPTION:POST# 13870 \nHours:\nOctober 12: 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.\nOctober 13-15: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. \nThis course is designed to train and qualify the students to teach the 24-hour driver training requirements in the 700-hour Basic Academy Curriculum. Students will also be qualified to teach the 8-hour CLEE class available to commissioned Missouri Peace Officers. The Defensive Driving Instructor School consists of 12 hours of classroom topics including Principles of Learning; Training Liability; Fundamentals of Law Enforcement Driving; and Vehicle Dynamics. The final 16 hours of training will involve becoming proficient in conducting driving practical exercises. You will need to use your agency assigned vehicle during the practical exercise. \nPRE-REQUISITES:\nThis course is not intended to teach students defensive driving. Those who register for this course should have strong defensive driving skills prior to registration. Students must be able to perform the practical exercises to receive a certificate of completion. DESCRIPTION:POST# 10532 \nSeptember 6-10\, 2024\n8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with an evening shoot \nDEADLINE: August 30\, 2024 \n  \nThis course covers pistol and shotgun training. Participants should have an advanced working knowledge of weapons used and must pass an initial qualification course with a score of at least 80% on the first day of training to continue the course. Students must pass a written examination and shoot a qualification score of at least 90% to successfully complete the course. This is not a beginner’s course. Topics include range management; lead and hearing safety; range safety; and analysis and correction of shooter problems. You will learn the skills necessary to be a firearms instructor and instruct for your department. This is also an approved course necessary to be licensed as a firearms specialist through POST. You should already possess an excellent mastery of safe weapons handling skills and be physically capable of performing police combat shooting courses. This course is not designed to teach you how to shoot but is designed to teach you how to instruct others to shoot as a law enforcement professional.
