700 Hour Basic Peace Officer Academy – Jefferson City, MO – Aug 2020

The Missouri Sheriffs’ Association will hold a part-time 700 hour class in Jefferson City, Missouri starting August 20, 2020 and running through June of 2021. Classes will meet Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00p.m.; every Saturday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and some Sunday sessions.

Applications will be accepted for this class between April 15th, 2020 to July 15th, 2020

Basic Supervision Training – Sept 2020

Course Description

This course will address the formal functions of supervision:

  • Planning
  • Reporting
  • Improving
  • Directing
  • Evaluating (PRIDE)

It is no secret that many, if not most, people leave their job because of poor supervision. Thus, other topics will address “informal” functions of supervision that address human relations concepts and skills to include; leadership, motivational principles and supervisor/subordinate relationships.

September 23-25, 2020
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Ends at noon last day)

This training qualifies for thirty-six (36) hours of Missouri POST Continuing Law Enforcement Education training through the Missouri Sheriffs’ Association Training Academy, a POST-approved continuing education provider.

Register by Sept. 4th, 2020

Patrol Rifle Instructor Course – Sept 2020 ****Canceled****

CANCELED DUE TO LACK OF REGISTRATIONS 9-17-2020

 

Course Description

Firearms instructors take your skills and abilities to a new
level. The addition of the semiautomatic rifle has
increased the effectiveness of the patrol officer, but it also
offers challenges to the trainer. This course is a POST approved
course required to obtain a patrol rifle specialist instructor license.
This two-day course is mentally and physically demanding,
so participants must be in good physical condition. Both days
will run longer than the minimum of eight (8) hours with low
light shoot. Our 44-hour Firearms Instructor Course is a precursor
to this program.
Due to the interactive and practical nature of this course,
class size is limited to 20 students.

PRE-REQUISITES:
Students must be a licensed Peace Officer or employed in the law
enforcement field and already be a Basic Firearms Instructor
(per-approval required); Three plus years of law
enforcement experience is recommended.

Training Topics Will Include
Sighting, zeroing and carries
Weapon storage
Liability
Loading, unloading and reloading
Training and range safety
Close quarter engagements and weapon retention
Stoppages and failure drills
Low light shooting
Instructional techniques

Training starts at 8:00AM each morning, but may go as late as 9:00PM for low light shooting.

If you have completed the MSA
Firearms Instructor Course you only
need to attend September 25th and
26h, 2020.

TASER X26P CEW Basic User (8 Hr) & Re-Certification (2 hr) Course – Wayne County – Oct 2020

October 14th, 2020

BASIC USER COURSE: 8:00AM to 5:00PM

This 8 Hour TASER X26P User Certification course covers the
TASER X26P CEW, CEW Nomenclature, CEW Technology, CEW
Cleaning & Troubleshooting, CEW Smart Use, Tactical
Considerations,Post Incident Considerations, Practical Exercises. In
order to successfully complete the TASER Certification course the
user must pass a written and practical examination.

RE-CERTIFICATION: 5:00PM to 7:00PM

This 2 hour TASER X26P User Re-Certification course is for
persons currently User Certified on the TASER X26P nearing the
end of their Basic Certification Period. All others must attend the
Basic User Certification Course.

The $60.00 supply fee covers the cost of 2 TASER Cartridges
required for certification or re-certification.

The supply fee is $90.00 if a Basic User Certification student
desires to be voluntarily exposed to the TASER. Exposure to
the TASER is not mandatory.

Due to the interactive and practical nature of this course,
class size is limited to 25 students.

PRE-REQUISITES:

Students must be a licensed Peace Officer or employed in the law enforcement filed.
