DESCRIPTION:POST# 18720 \nDates\nSeptember 21 – 23\, 2023  8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with a night shoot to 9:00pm \nIf you have completed the MSA Firearms Instructor Course you only need to attend September 22 & 23\, 2022. \nFirearms instructors take your skills and abilities to a new level. The addition of the semiautomatic rifle has increased the effectiveness of the patrol officer\, but it also offers challenges to the trainer. This course is a POST approved course required to obtain a patrol rifle specialist instructor license. This two-day course is mentally and physically demanding\, so participants must be in good physical condition. Both days will run longer than the minimum of eight (8) hours with low light shoot. DESCRIPTION:Post #11133 \nDate\nSeptember 19 – 21; and 25 – 26\, 2023\n8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. \nThis course will provide the student the necessary skills and knowledge to develop and present training programs that meet the requirements of the Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (POST) Rules and Regulations to peace officers in the State of Missouri. This program is POST Approved to meet the requirements necessary for licensing as a POST Generalist Instructor\, and specialist Instructor. The program starts on Tuesday\, September 19 with 3 days of interactive classroom training on course preparation; public speaking; principles of learning; the role of the instructor; training aids; training liability; test construction; methods of instruction; and adult learning principles. Students will be required to perform short classroom presentations and select a training topic that will be used to develop and present a 50-minute practical teaching exercise. Students will be on their own from Friday\, September 22 through the following Sunday\, September 24 to return home and work on their 50-minute presentation. On Monday\, September 25 students will return back to the classroom to work on and finalize their presentation with the aid of their instructor. Each student will present their 50-minute teaching exercise on Tuesday\, September 26\, 2023. \nDue to the interactive nature of this program\, class size is limited to 14 students. \nPRE-REQUISITES:\nStudents will be required to develop a source document and lesson plan for the 50-minute teaching exercise. The topic of the exercise must relate in some way to law enforcement. DESCRIPTION:POST# 10532 \nAugust 21 – 25\, 2023\n8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with an evening shoot \nThis course covers pistol and shotgun training. Participants should have an advanced working knowledge of weapons used and must pass an initial qualification course with a score of at least 80% on the first day of training to continue the course. Students must pass a written examination and shoot a qualification score of at least 90% to successfully complete the course. This is not a beginner’s course. Topics include range management; lead and hearing safety; range safety; and analysis and correction of shooter problems. You will learn the skills necessary to be a firearms instructor and instruct for your department. This is also an approved course necessary to be licensed as a firearms specialist through POST. You should already possess an excellent mastery of safe weapons handling skills and be physically capable of performing police combat shooting courses. This course is not designed to teach you how to shoot but is designed to teach you how to instruct others to shoot as a law enforcement professional. DESCRIPTION:POST# 25658 \nThis 8-Hour training session provides basic tactical emergency casualty care training which includes: The 3 Phases of Tactical Emergency Care; tactical considerations for rescue; proper procedures for applying a tourniquet; proper wound packing procedures; appropriate use of hemostatic agents; treatment for an open chest wound; rapid shot assessment; and the importance of preventing hypothermia in shock. \nStudents will be participating in practical exercises using tourniquets and first aid supplies. It is recommended that student bring tourniquets and individual first aid kit equipment that they may use performing their duties. Students should also wear comfortable durable clothing such as BDU paints and boots that will allow them to move freely while participating in practical exercises. \nThe session is being conducted as part of the Missouri Supreme Court Marshal training program and has been opened to others in need of the training. DESCRIPTION:POST# 11133 \nDate\nMay 16 – 18; and 22 – 23\, 2023\n8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. \nThis course will provide the student the necessary skills and knowledge to develop and present training programs that meet the requirements of the Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (POST) Rules and Regulations to peace officers in the State of Missouri. This program is POST Approved to meet the requirements necessary for licensing as a POST Generalist Instructor\, and specialist Instructor. The program starts on Tuesday\, May 16 with 3 days of interactive classroom training on course preparation; public speaking; principles of learning; the role of the instructor; training aids; training liability; test construction; methods of instruction; and adult learning principles. Students will be required to perform short classroom presentations and select a training topic that will be used to develop and present a 50-minute practical teaching exercise. Students will be on their own from Friday\, May 19 through the following Sunday\, May 21 to return home and work on their 50-minute presentation. On Monday\, May 22 students will return back to the classroom to work on and finalize their presentation with the aid of their instructor. Each student will present their 50-minute teaching exercise on Tuesday\, May 23\, 2023. \nDue to the interactive nature of this program\, class size is limited to 14 students. \nPRE-REQUISITES:\nStudents will be required to develop a source document and lesson plan for the 50-minute teaching exercise. The topic of the exercise must relate in some way to law enforcement.
