SUMMARY:Nitazenes: Recognizing & Responding to a Resurfacing Synthetic Opioid Hazard - FREE!
DESCRIPTION:A powerful synthetic opioid threat is resurfacing in Missouri. Nitazenes\, a class of opioids first developed decades ago but never approved for medical use in the United States\, are now being detected in the illicit drug supply across the country and here in Missouri. Through a school wastewater monitoring program led by the Missouri Department of Public Safety\, nitazenes have been detected in 26 of 37 participating Missouri schools since January. \nThis timely and FREE training will help law enforcement officers\, jail staff\, school resource officers\, investigators\, supervisors\, and public safety professionals understand what nitazenes are\, how they are resurfacing in Missouri\, why traditional drug screening may miss them\, and how to respond when an overdose or suspected synthetic opioid incident occurs. She began her career as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in a large jurisdiction that allowed her to work with victims affected by violent crime. April’s experience includes serving as an elected Prosecuting Attorney in Scotland County & appointed to serve as Prosecuting Attorney in Clark County\, Missouri.
