If you’re a law enforcement history buff, you’ll want to order the second edition of “Preserving the Past – Protecting the Future: A History of Missouri’s Sheriffs.”
The book, first published in 2014, explores the roots of the office of sheriff in each of Missouri’s 114 counties and the City of St. Louis. Each county’s story is told on two pages and includes a list of sheriffs who had served up to that point, as well as photos of the sheriffs that were currently serving. The book also includes a history of sheriffs, which goes back to 43 A.D., as well as photos of early jails, criminals who found themselves behind the bars of some of those jails, and gallows where they met their fate.
Since more than 90 new sheriffs have taken office since the book was published, we thought this would be a good time to reprint the book to include updated lists and pictures of all the sheriffs who are now serving.
We are selling the book through prepaid orders until June 1. The book will be shipped to you in mid to late August.
The cost is $45 plus $12.45 shipping. Order through the link www.mosheriffs.com/history/
