Two Sessions (CHOOSE ONE)

November 30, 2022, from 8am to 5pm

When cell extractions are performed, even if everything, including the preplanning and the force used, was within policy, consistent with training, well supervised, and objectively reviewed, excessive force complaints as well as lawsuit litigation often follows. In short, cell extractions are a risk management nightmare.

This 8-hour course begins with discussion on the use of force in corrections and the need to manage disruptive and/or dangerous behavior. It continues with information on the controlled use of force to reduce potential injury to staff or inmates. It concludes with practical application exercises where students participate in actual cell extraction drills.
