Field Training Officers have significant additional responsibilities over and above their law enforcement duties. Not only are they responsible for the performance of general law enforcement duties, they are also responsible for guiding recruits through a comprehensive curriculum that requires the blending of knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as the good judgment of when, where, and how to apply them.
This 48-hour course is designed to prepare the participant for working in a jail or detention center. It focuses on developing knowledge and skills to better equip an individual for maintaining the safety and security of a facility, as they ensure the incarcerated individuals’ needs are met in a humane and legal manner. It is a MUST for individuals just beginning a career working in a jail and a friendly refresher for those who have been working in a jail for some time.
Contract Agency Student: No Cost Non-Contract Agency Student: $500.00 This course will provide the student the necessary skills and knowledge to develop and present training programs that meet the requirements of The Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission (POST) Rules and Regulations to peace officers in the State of Missouri. This program is POST Approved to meet the requirements necessary for licensing as a POST Generalist Instructor, and Specialist Instructor.
Throughout history managing inmate behavior has been a goal of administrators and it is now more important than ever. A key aspect of any inmate behavior management plan is inmate classification. This presentation begins by defining classification and discussing standards for evaluating classification assessment tools. It covers core distinguishing features of an objective classification system, aspects of system validity and reliability, along with the need for appropriate override within the system. It concludes with a tabletop where participants work through an actual classification exercise.

New Instructor - Contract Agency Student: $250.00 New Instructor - Non-contract Agency Student: $400.00 Recertification - Contract Agency Student: 200.00 Recertification - Non-contract Agency Student: 350.00 Firearms instructors take your skills and abilities to a new level. The addition of the semiautomatic rifle has increased the effectiveness of the patrol officer, but it also offers challenges to the trainer. This course is a POST approved course required to obtain a patrol rifle specialist instructor license. This two-day course is mentally and physically demanding, so participants must be in good physical condition. Both days will run longer than the minimum of eight (8) hours with low light shoot. Our 44-hour Firearms Instructor Course is a precursor to this program.

Contract Agency Student: No Cost Payable to MSA Non-Contract Agency Student: $50 Payable to MSA (All Students are required to pay $95, payable to Public Safety Training, on the day of session to the instructor. Students will learn how to apply techniques to control life threatening bleeding during care under fire in a HOT ZONE. Additionally, they will perform techniques to treat life threatening and non-life-threatening injuries during tactical field care in a WARM ZONE. During the program, students will demonstrate lifting, moving, and extricating victims from a tactical or hostile environment during tactical evacuation care.
