Dear Attendee,
We look forward to seeing everyone at the 2023 Summer Training Conference & Expo at Margaritaville Lake Resort in Osage Beach, Missouri August 14-17.
We are excited to share that we were able to book Mr. Daryl Davis as the opening keynote speaker. As a race relations expert, Mr. Davis has received acclaim for his book, Klan-Destine Relationships and his work in race relations from many respected sources including CNN, NBC, Good Morning America, The Learning Channel, National Public Radio, The Washington Post, The Baltimore Sun and many others. He is also the recipient of numerous awards including the highly prestigious Elliott-Black Award and the Bridge Builder Award presented by the American Ethical Union and Washington Ethical Society. For 30 years, Mr. Davis spent time befriending members of the Ku Klux Klan — a relationship he says led to 200 Klansmen having given up their robes after talking with him. I have personally met Mr. Davis and heard him speak. I can truly say you don’t want to miss this!
The pre-event golf tournament tees off at noon on August 13 at The Oaks and is followed by our welcome reception from 5:00-6:30 p.m. in the License to Chill Bar off main lobby of Margaritaville.
Exhibit Day is August 14 following the annual business meeting at 9:00 a.m. The exhibitor appreciation lunch is in the exhibit hall from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Exhibitor drawings will be held between 4:00-5:00 p.m. Please visit with the exhibitors from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and show your appreciation for their support through the year.
After a long day of training on the Tuesday, August 15, we hope you join us for our Evening Event featuring dinner at 6:00 p.m. followed by our fundraiser auction featuring our own Sheriff Brad Cole and Sheriff Doug Rader as auctioneers. Don’t forget to bring your auction items! After the auction sit back and relax to the sounds of Soul Root, back by popular demand, as they play your favorite songs. For those inclined, there will be cornhole and poker games available.
Our Awards Luncheon will be Wednesday, August 16 from 12:00-1:30 p.m. in Paradise B and C. Don’t forget to submit your nominations for Deputy of the Year and Citizen of the Year. The nomination deadline is July 20, 2023.
If you have questions, contact Jeanne Merritt at 573-529-6900 or send an email.
See you at the conference.
Sincerely,
Kevin Merritt
