Firearms instructors take your skills and abilities to a new level. The addition of the semiautomatic rifle has increased the effectiveness of the patrol officer, but it also offers challenges to the trainer. This course is a POST approved course required to obtain a patrol rifle specialist instructor license. This two-day course is mentally and physically demanding, so participants must be in good physical condition. Both days will run longer than the minimum of eight (8) hours with low light shoot.
Not only are they responsible for the performance of general law enforcement duties, they are also responsible for guiding recruits through a comprehensive curriculum that requires the blending of knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as the good judgment of when, where, and how to apply them.
Topics include impact munitions, CS gas & OC pepper spray. It is encouraged that you are already a firearms instructor, but not required. You must be certified on pepper spray prior to this class.
Students will learn how to apply techniques to control life threatening bleeding during care under fire in a HOT ZONE. Additionally, they will perform techniques to treat life threatening and non-life-threatening injuries during tactical field care in a WARM ZONE. During the program, students will demonstrate lifting, moving, and extricating victims from a tactical or hostile environment during tactical evacuation care.

This newly enhanced 16-hour program builds upon our previous 8-hour course, delivering comprehensive instruction on the most current best practices, policies, and procedures for the effective and safe use of less-lethal impact munitions.
This 8-hour Instructor Course allows successful graduates to teach end-users to properly deploy OC and to properly care for those exposed to the product. In addition to covering how to deploy pepper spray, this course stresses under what circumstances pepper spray may be appropriately used as a force option, decontamination procedures, and the need to closely monitor individuals for adverse medical effects after exposure.
