This 16-hour course is designed to provide participants with a basic understanding of the fundamentals associated with providing a safe and secure environment for conducting court business, as well as seeing to the safety of all who pass through the courthouse doors. This course offers the basic information needed to train and evaluate a new officer. It is based on the highly regarded San Jose, California Police Department FTO model established in the 1970s.

Edged Weapons Tactics, Jefferson City

Officers carry a variety of tools while on duty, and they receive training on most of those tools. Officers are taught how to shoot a gun, drive a car, and write a report on a computer, but officers do not generally receive training on carrying a knife. The knife is another tool routinely carried by officers and it can be a deadly weapon.

Defensive Driving Instructor Course, Jefferson City

This course is designed to train and qualify the students to teach the 24-hour driver training requirements in the 700-hour Basic Academy Curriculum. Students will also be qualified to teach the 8-hour CLEE class available to commissioned Missouri Peace Officers.

OC Pepper Spray Instructor Course & Re-Certification, Jefferson City

This 8-hour Instructor Course allows successful graduates to teach end-users to properly deploy OC and to properly care for those exposed to the product. In addition to covering how to deploy pepper spray, this course stresses under what circumstances pepper spray may be appropriately used as a force option, decontamination procedures, and the need to closely monitor individuals for adverse medical effects after exposure.

Tactical Medical for First Responders, Jefferson City

Contract Agency Student: No Cost Payable to MSA Non-Contract Agency Student: $50 Payable to MSA (All Students are required to pay $95, payable to Public Safety Training, on the day of session to the instructor. Students will learn how to apply techniques to control life threatening bleeding during care under fire in a HOT ZONE. Additionally, they will perform techniques to treat life threatening and non-life-threatening injuries during tactical field care in a WARM ZONE. During the program, students will demonstrate lifting, moving, and extricating victims from a tactical or hostile environment during tactical evacuation care.

Patrol Rifle Instructor Course, Jefferson City

New Instructor - Contract Agency Student: $250.00 New Instructor - Non-contract Agency Student: $400.00 Recertification - Contract Agency Student: 200.00 Recertification - Non-contract Agency Student: 350.00 Firearms instructors take your skills and abilities to a new level. The addition of the semiautomatic rifle has increased the effectiveness of the patrol officer, but it also offers challenges to the trainer. This course is a POST approved course required to obtain a patrol rifle specialist instructor license. This two-day course is mentally and physically demanding, so participants must be in good physical condition. Both days will run longer than the minimum of eight (8) hours with low light shoot. Our 44-hour Firearms Instructor Course is a precursor to this program.

This program is POST Approved to meet the requirements necessary for licensing as a POST Generalist Instructor, and Specialist Instructor.
